Terms of Service

Last updated October 21, 2026

These terms explain how the CheckLate website and initial review work. CheckLate provides the platform. Adam J. Law provides legal services for accepted cases under a signed written engagement agreement.

The website and free review

CheckLate helps people request a review of a California final paycheck claim. Submitting the intake form is free and does not hire the firm or authorize contact with your employer.

We use your answers to review your request and contact you. A review may require more information or a conflict check. Not every request will be accepted.

Legal services

Submitting the form does not, by itself, create an attorney and client relationship or mean that a lawyer has accepted your case. Legal work begins only after Adam J. Law accepts your case and you sign its engagement agreement. The agreement identifies the responsible attorney, scope of work, contingency fee and other conditions.

Any duties owed to a prospective client under applicable law remain in place. These website terms do not waive those protections.

Contingency fees and scope

The initial review is free. You only pay if money is recovered for you. For accepted cases, Adam J. Law works on contingency, with its fee paid from the recovery. Before you decide to proceed, the written agreement explains the fee percentage, any expenses deducted from a recovery and the services included.

The remote service covers the review and pursuit of a claim within the agreed scope, including employer communications and follow up. It does not include appearing for you at a state hearing or in court. If that representation is needed, we can try to connect you with another attorney, but cannot guarantee that one will accept your case.

The written engagement agreement controls the services, fees, expenses, timing and other terms. These website terms do not replace it. The initial intake does not collect payment or sign an engagement agreement.

Claims and outcomes

Examples on the website are illustrations, not a prediction of what you will recover. Eligibility and amounts depend on the facts, applicable law, available evidence and the employer’s response. No payment, settlement, recovery amount or outcome is guaranteed.

Submitting an intake does not file a claim, stop a deadline or mean a lawyer is monitoring a deadline for you. Responsibility for deadlines must be expressly addressed in a service agreement.

Your information

Provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Estimates and uncertainty can be identified in the form. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, bank account details or other sensitive identifiers through the initial intake.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle the information we receive.

Use of the website

Use the website for lawful requests. Do not impersonate another person, submit fraudulent claims, interfere with the website or attempt to access information you are not authorized to access.

Updates and contact

We may update these website terms by posting a revised version and updating the date above. Changes do not replace an existing signed service agreement.
